dc.description.abstract | Next to the petroleum industry, fish farming is by far the fastest growing industry in Norway. It began as small
units up and down the country, based on local experience, but is now emerging as a technically advanced
industry. Both the fish itself and the equipment needed for fish farming, are important products for the domestic
market, and even more important as export goods. Fish farming terminology, however, has never been the object
of neither systematic work nor of systematic categorization; any such work has been secondary compared to
technical writings and translations. This kind of secondary terminological work is, unfortunately, typical of most
of what is happening within the area of terminological development today. Only rarely is work carried out in
accordance with recognized terminological principles, of which the development of an efficient, communicative
tool for technical terminology is essential. | nb_NO |
