The paper discusses the law on cumulative causation by Gunnar Myrdal from 1957. The law is central in a theory of economic development and underdevelopment, and focuses especially upon regional growth, recession and the mutual relations between developing and lagging places and regions. Data from Norwegian fishery regions are used in an empirical test of the law.en
