This thesis examines the differences between Norwegian and Japanese culture, and how these differences might impact business relations between companies from the two countries. We also look at the language barrier as a possible source of difficulty, and see how this can be overcome through the use of interpreters, or by using a common language. We look at the usefulness and dangers of stereotyping, before analysing both Norway and Japan using Hofstede’s and Trompenaars & Hampden-Turner’s cultural dimensions and giving some thought to the issue of cultural convergence. Finally, we look at the considerations a Norwegian firm will need to take when entering into a business relationship with a Japanese firm.en
