SYNAPS - A Journal of Professional Communication 18(2006) pp.41-46Sammendrag
In this paper I present cultural, political, financial and pedagogical arguments for developing terminology in
Norwegian. I argue in favour of the establishment of a national centre for terminology and technical language
resources. The most important tasks for such a centre will be to revitalise existing terminological resources and
make them accessible for public use, as well as developing terminology for new domains.
Such an effort is likely to be the most efficient way to follow the recommendation given in the strategy
document Norsk i hundre!, recently published by the Norwegian Language Council. Aksis is eager to take part
in such an effort.
